The decisive factor, in particular, can be a certain voltage value, the same stability or a given amplitude of the pressure drops.

The burner does not ignite. No spark... In this case, the temperature indication does not work when the mixer is opened.

  • Weak water pressure. If the pressure in the tap is small, you need to wait until the flow is restored. The installed model may be too powerful for your plumbing. Also check the adjustment toggle switch, set to maximum value. For frequent pressure problems, it is recommended to install a circulation pump.

You can remove the water part together with the gas part. The dismantling procedure is marked with letters:

  • a - after turning off the fuel supply, the supply hose is unscrewed.
  • b - the cold water nut is loosened.
  • c - the nut of the water block and the radiator pipe is unscrewed.
  • d - the wiring of the solenoid valve is disconnected.
  • d - the microswitch loop is disconnected.
  • e - the bolts of the flange connection are unscrewed.

Broken electronic board requires a call from a specialist.

Breakdown on the device case. A clicking sound is heard, as if a spark was forming, but no ignition occurs. Hence, the insulation of the candle is broken. If defects are found during inspection, a serviceable part must be supplied. Also, the cause of the breakdown is a violation of the tight connections of the cable with the control unit. Return the cable to the socket.

Neva Lux error codes

The display allows the user to see the fault code. Self-diagnosis of the column gives a digital value in case of a malfunction.

E0 - the boiler shuts down. Fuel does not flow into the system. Check the gas valve, the supply may have been shut off for a short time.

Error E1 - the control board does not receive a signal from the flame sensor. More than a minute passed.

What could have happened:

  • Air in the gas pipeline. This happens when the device is turned on for the first time or when the device is turned off for a long time.Open and close hot water several times until the burner ignites.
  • The fuel supply valve is not fully open. Unscrew the tap.
  • Insufficient pressure in the gas line.
  • The tank has run out of fuel. The cylinder needs to be replaced.
  • Violation of the wiring between the water unit and the flame sensor, solenoid valve. Inspect the loop for damage to the insulation.
  • The electrode has moved out of place, does not reach the burner. Return the part to its original location.
  • Soot is present on the electrode and flame sensor. You can clean the parts with a brush.
  • The contacts between the spark plug and the high-voltage wire are removed.
  • The nozzles are clogged with soot.

The burner must be removed for cleaning. Disconnect the wiring and unscrew the nipple nut. Unscrew the two manifold bolts, then do the same with the burner mounts. After dismantling, the holes are washed with a brush and soapy water. Reassemble after rinsing and drying.

E3 code - the solenoid valve worked before the signal from the flow sensor was received.

  • The valve is defective. A new element is being installed.
  • The electronic unit has broken. Diagnosis is carried out by a specialist.

Error E7 - after 7 attempts to ignite, the equipment still does not light up or goes out.

  • Open the fuel valve as far as it will go.
  • The ionization sensor has moved or soot has accumulated on its electrode. It should be in the flame zone, near the burner. Cleaning is done with a brush.
  • The electrical valves are out of order.
  • The water or gas block has boiled. Replacement of elements.

Error E8 - the thrust sensor has been triggered. The reasons:

  • The sensor is broken. See if the contacts are tight, change the part.
  • The chimney is clogged with debris or soot. If you cannot clean the passage with your own hands, contact your utilities.

L0 - not enough fuel is supplied for normal operation. What happened:

  • Weak water pressure. The line pressure acts on the diaphragm, which opens the valve. Wait for the flow to recover, adjust the toggle switch or descale the radiator. How to do this is described in the article on cleaning and repairing a gas column heat exchanger.
  • The temperature at the regulator is too low. Increase your metrics.
  • The pressure in the gas line exceeds the permissible limits. Install the reduction gear.

Principle of operation

The geyser is designed in such a way that its work on water supply is automatic. When water enters the nozzle, its speed of movement increases significantly. The liquid flows through the holes into the upper cavity above the membrane. Due to the spring, the membrane rises, at the same time pushing the rod of the water part, which, resting on the gas drive, opens the valve, and the gas begins to flow to the burner.If the water supply is shut off, then the action of the rods occurs in the reverse order and the fuel ceases to flow into the combustion chamber. A safety valve is built into the gas system.

Its principle of operation in a gas column device boils down to the fact that when the combustion stops, the gas supply is automatically turned off. This action is carried out thanks to a thermocouple installed in the valve, which is heated directly by an open flame.

The thermocouple in the electrical circuit of the gas column is connected to the valve, and when heated, it generates a short-term voltage that acts on the solenoid of the shut-off device. When the combustion stops, the thermocouple cools down and stops generating current, and the valve, due to the spring, shuts off the gas supply.

Purpose and features

The magnetic choke is widely used both in industry and in everyday life. The Lovato VH series magnetic gas valve is installed in everyday life, first of all, on pipelines supplying natural gas to premises (for example, columns).

The Lovato BH series solenoid valve on any gas pipeline essentially works like a conventional valve that can shut off the gas supply at the push of a button. In addition, the magnetic assembly increases the safety of using gas equipment (boilers, water heaters, stoves).

The main classification, according to which the division of devices on the market of control valves, including for a gas boiler, takes place, is the number of inputs. The following groups are distinguished:

  • Two-way valves: these are designs with two openings - inlet and outlet. Such devices are used exclusively to block the supply, or to open the flow of the working medium of the pipeline.
  • Three-way mechanisms are equipped with one inlet and two outlet ports. This design allows the device to perform not only a shut-off-regulating, but also a redirecting function.
  • Four-way gas valve - has 4 openings, of which 3 are outlet and one inlet. They are, in fact, identical in functionality to three-way valves, however, the presence of an additional outlet somewhat expands their operating potential and the scope where a four-way valve can be used.

A division is also made according to the type of valve control, depending on this, two categories are distinguished:

  • Valves with manual control of the closing element. These are simple mechanisms, the shutter of which is set in motion by turning the control wheel or lever. The main distinguishing quality of devices of this type is a fairly high reliability and a low price at which they can be bought.
  • Solenoid valves. The presence of an electric drive makes it possible to control the shutter in automatic mode. Basically, such devices are used in industrial gas pipelines, heating systems, and production lines - that is, in places where it is necessary to simultaneously control a large number of control devices.

In addition, electromagnetic gas valves, depending on the position of the gate, which it takes in the event of a power outage, can be divided into three main groups:

  1. Normally open constructions. In the event of a power outage, such devices move to the open position, thereby guaranteeing the working environment free circulation in the pipeline.
  2. Normally closed. Without power supply, the valve assumes a closed position and shuts off the gas flow in the system.

For example, a gas check valve: devices of this type perform the function of protecting the pipeline from the movement of the working medium in the opposite direction. The design features of the mechanism, where a check valve is involved, allow the flow to pass only in a strictly specified direction. This is how it works.

Pipeline protection will be the main purpose of a mechanism such as a check valve. These valves are usually installed directly near gas equipment: storage tanks, transfer pumps, dispensers, gas boiler and reducers, since the check valve thus prevents the movement of flames in their direction.

The gas safety valve performs functions similar to those assigned to the check valve. These are special protective devices that prevent an emergency situation due to sudden pressure drops in the gas transmission system, including with the presence of a gas boiler.

These valves perform automatic shut-off of the gas supply in the event that the pressure of the working medium has exceeded or dropped below a predetermined limit.

The design provides for the release of a volume of gas that creates excess pressure into the atmosphere, after which the valve closes and the pipeline continues to work in normal operation.

It is worth mentioning that this type of pipeline fittings can be significantly modified.

So, a thermostat, an air gas content meter, a working medium pressure sensor, a mechanism for adjusting the gas flow rate are usually installed on a safety shut-off valve of a high price category. Electromagnetic type gas valves are composed of electrical and mechanical parts. With the help of the electrical system, the system is controlled, the mechanical one is the executive element. The entire circuit of the device is located in the case. The main working components are the so-called seat and plug. The seat is a hole through which gas flows and which is closed off by a valve. The latter has a design like a plate or a piston. The shutter is attached to a rod, which is part of the electromagnetic system.

The electromagnetic system is a coil within which a core moves. It is connected to the bolt rod. The electromagnet itself has its own plastic body and is located outside on top of the valve body. The counteraction to the work of the electromagnet creates a return spring.

Solenoid gas valves work according to the following principle. In the initial state, when there is no supply voltage at the terminals of the electromagnet, the return spring holds the gate in a certain position. This position often corresponds to a blocked channel in the valve. As soon as the power has appeared, under the action of the magnetic force, the gate core is retracted, overcoming the force of the return spring, and the gate opens the channel. Some valves are brought into working position by manually cocking (opening) the shutter. With the help of the current applied to the electromagnet, the magnitude of the magnetic flux of the electromagnet can be adjusted. Thus, the operation of the valve is controlled, slightly opening it not completely, thereby regulating the gas flow.

The burner shuts down during operation

A failure of the same water unit can also lead to the cessation of the gas supply during combustion. With a large pressure, a frog with a worn-out membrane still somehow copes, but if you open cold water, the pressure drops and the gas column fades out. The same consequences occur when the traction sensor fails. The thermosensitive element is designed to break the electrical circuit when its surface reaches a certain temperature. The sensor is installed near the flue gas outlet and is connected to the solenoid valve by wires.

As soon as the draft in the chimney disappears, the temperature of the flue before leaving the duct will rise sharply, the sensor will heat up and break the circuit. The electric valve, in turn, will shut off the fuel supply. The described element is not eternal, sometimes it also needs to be changed. It is simple to check the performance of the part: you need to unscrew it from the case and, without disconnecting the wires, hang it out. The stable operation of the burner indicates that the sensor is working properly, and the reason lies in the chimney, where, for some reason, the draft has disappeared.

A decrease in draft can appear when the fins of the heat exchanger are clogged with soot, and the water pressure drops if its tubes are covered with a thick layer of scale from the inside. The heat exchanger should be periodically cleaned and flushed.

In addition to the water unit and the clap thrust sensor and the unstable operation of the burner, a malfunction of the temperature sensor can result, and it cannot be repaired, only replaced. True, it is difficult to detect a malfunction in this case. LPG valve functions

Solenoid valves installed on gas equipment are called "multivalves" for the reason that they perform several functions at once. To be more precise, the functional set of most nodes of this type includes:

  • The possibility of filling through a special fitting. Thus, the filling function of the valve allows filling the cylinder with fuel through it, if other methods for achieving this goal are not applicable for any reason;
  • On the contrary, the possibility of emptying the cylinder through a special fitting;
  • Blocking of filling and flow channels by using a valve mechanism;
  • Blocking of excessive filling of the cylinder by using a special cut-off with a float;
  • Blocking the gas supply through the main line to the motor when it stops working, which organizes the “anti-cotton” function of the valve. This was especially true for the equipment of the first generations, because the slightest problems with the supply of gas to the internal combustion engine were accompanied by the sounds of pops and explosions. It was the multivalve - anti-cotton that was the first to solve this problem;
  • Determination of the gas level in the tank, thanks to a unique magnetic system for indicating its amount;
  • Filtration of gas in its liquefied state, which occurs due to the presence of a filter element in the structure of the unit;
  • Organization of additional fuel feeding of the engine.

To date, a multivalve in its standard form with a set of the above functions is practically not used, because such an LPG system is not absolutely safe. Despite this, a giant in the field of universal gas valves like Lovato is still releasing them a little bit for sale.

Water leaks

Inside the flow heater, the water pipes are connected to various assemblies using union nuts and rubber O-rings. Homeowners who have not serviced their units for years may find dripping water under the appliance. If this was found, then the repair of the gas column consists in checking all the mates and replacing the seals.

There are other places where water can seep, for example, through the working rod of the water unit. This suggests that at least the replacement of the seal on the frog stem is required, which will require its removal and disassembly. In models equipped with a safety valve, the latter can also leak, especially if it has had to relieve pressure several times. Finally, the most unpleasant situation is a damaged heat exchanger, in which a fistula has formed. It is very expensive to buy a new one, it is easier to repair the old one, which is described in the next section.

Heat exchanger repair

Important! Do not forget to shut off the gas main during any repair work!

It is quite possible to self-repair a crack or fistula in the heat exchanger when the damage to the tube is located on the front side or on the side. Otherwise, the part will have to be removed, for which you will have to disassemble almost the entire column. Problems with soldering the heat exchanger, when the leak is in the back or between the radiator fins, should be entrusted to the master from the service center. To complete the work, you will need:

  • powerful soldering iron (at least 100 W);
  • fine sandpaper;
  • white spirit or other solvent;
  • solder and rosin.

To repair the gas column heat exchanger, you must first release water from it. To do this, the common valve is closed, the nearest hot water tap opens and the union nut at the entrance to the water unit is slightly unscrewed.When the water has escaped, the nut is unscrewed completely, the tap on the mixer remains open.

The next step is to carefully sand the damaged area with sandpaper until there is no oxide film left. Then, with a rag moistened with white spirit, the area is degreased. Using rosin as a flux, the fistula is tinned with solder so that its layer is smooth and even. It is necessary to ensure that the solder on the copper surface is not loose, which means that the area is not sufficiently heated. The final stage is the build-up of the tin layer to a thickness of 1–2 mm.

At the end of the soldering, open the common valve and inspect the repair site for leaks. If everything is in order, close the mixer tap and test the column in operating mode.

A self-repaired heat exchanger will still serve for some time, since the medium in it does not heat up above 100 ºС, and the soldering temperature is 200 ºС.

How to replace a membrane in a gas column

As mentioned above, in order to revise the water unit, you will need a repair kit designed for this heater model. Typically, it includes a diaphragm, a spring and a set of seals. An open-end wrench and a regular screwdriver are required from the tool. Before starting work, you need to drain the water from the frog, as described in the case of the heat exchanger.

Now you need to remove the water unit itself. The nut at the water inlet has already been unscrewed, it remains to unscrew the second and disconnect the frog from the gas valve. The type of connection depends on the model and manufacturer of the unit; the tool required for this purpose must be prepared in advance. Then the screws connecting the two halves of the assembly are unscrewed, and the membrane in the gas column is replaced. It is important to install the diaphragm correctly, its position is best remembered when disassembling.

Before installing a new diaphragm, clean the stem (if there is no new one in the repair kit) and replace all O-rings. When the operation is completed, the parts are connected to each other and fastened with screws. They must be tightened in a "star" pattern, when one screw is followed by the opposite, and so on.
